Meet Graham

Graham was born and raised in the suburbs of Kanata - calling Ottawa home for over 30 years, making a forgettable stop in Toronto. He’s experienced living in a variety of neighbourhoods in Ottawa such as: West Carleton, Rural Ottawa South, Nepean, Downtown Ottawa and Stittsville.

After losing his grandma at a young age - he developed an interest in the funeral industry. The compassion, kindness and graciousness the funeral home employees displayed during such a challenging time in his life was something he wanted to emulate.

While in high school, he earned a co-op placement with Tubman’s Funeral Homes - following the completion, he accepted a full time position with the funeral home. After working there for 6 years armed with his entrepreneurial spirit and strong desire to help people - he opened his own mortuary, Ottawa Mortuary Services. A licensed funeral home offering removals, embalming, vehicle livery, funeral staff and specialising in global human remains logistics. As CEO, Graham expanded the company, operating in London and Toronto employing over 70 employees.

Graham has over a decade of experience working with many government agencies at the Municipal, Provincial and Federal level in regards to mortuary affairs and services. As a contractor for the Ontario Chief Coroners Office, Graham played an integral role within death investigations in Ottawa, Toronto and London, Ontario

In his role at Ottawa Mortuary Services, he attended death scenes and crime scenes in and around Ottawa pertaining to suicides, overdoses, homicides, motor vehicle collisions and accidental deaths. He has seen first hand, the effects of addiction and the mental health crisis plaguing our Nation's Capital. In addition to violent crimes that have escalated over the years as well as road safety with vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians.

Graham has experience working along side Ottawa Police to develop a mass casualty plan in the event of a terrorist attack or natural disaster. Living in the Nation's Capital can bring a heightened risk of attacks on the citizens of Ottawa as seen in years past . He understands what necessary steps are needed to keep you and your family safe and secure.  Graham has participated in the Emergency Training Simulation for the LRT prior to the public launch of the first train.

Additionally, Graham hosted each new class of Ottawa Police recruits at the mortuary. Allowing them exposure to dead bodies and the circumstances  they could expect to find themselves being a front line officer. At these workshops he would educate on proper documentation and procedure for body removal as well as  the available tool box to handle different situations.

One of Graham’s proudest accomplishments was when he was awarded a global wide contract for National Defence as a Mortuary Affairs Contractor. He had the honour of participating in the recovery efforts of Canada's lost servicemen and coordinating their Military Burial at their final resting places.

Over the years Graham has worked with many charities including MADD- Strides for Change, Kids Help Phone Boolathon  (Halloween Bowling), 100 Men Who Care as well as The Unforgettables Fund Annual Golf Tournament.

Graham is also the past President of the Ottawa District Funeral Service Association.

Graham and his fiancé Kelsey currently reside in Kanata with their adorable dachshund/boxer dog, Jane.
